The Cannex is an independent, multilingual publication about cannabis science, law and business. We publish in six languages — English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian — for readers who want to know what the evidence actually says, what the rules are in their country, and where the industry is heading.
What we cover
Science and health. We report on peer-reviewed research into cannabinoids, medical cannabis and CBD: clinical trials, systematic reviews and new findings from laboratories and hospitals. We explain what a study measured, how large it was and what it can and cannot tell us — not just the headline.
Laws and policy. Cannabis rules differ from country to country and change quickly. Our legal guides explain what is allowed, what the penalties are and what has changed recently, with links to the laws and official sources behind every claim. Each guide shows the date it was last checked.
Industry and markets. We follow legalisation, regulation, company news and market data in North America, Europe and beyond, with a focus on what changes mean for patients, consumers and businesses.
Culture and society. From public attitudes to the way cannabis is portrayed in media and sport, we cover the people and debates that shape the plant’s place in society.
Why six languages
Most reliable cannabis reporting is published in English, while many of the people affected by new laws and research read in other languages. Each language edition of The Cannex is written for its own readers: a German article explains German law, a Spanish article covers Spain and Latin America, a Russian article tells readers what applies to them. We do not simply translate — we adapt each story to the legal and medical context of its audience.
How we work
Every article is based on primary sources wherever possible: the published study, the text of the law, the regulator’s decision or official statistics. We link to these sources so readers can check them. Medical and legal content is reviewed for accuracy before publication and updated when the facts change. Our standards are described in detail in our Editorial Policy.
The Cannex does not sell cannabis or cannabis products, and our articles are not medical or legal advice. Advertising and sponsored content are always clearly labelled and never influence our editorial decisions.
Who we are
The Cannex is run by a small international editorial team led by editor Martin Weller. The team combines experience in journalism, newspaper editing and medicine.
